Edna Gunnells Obituary
Born April 10, 1927, in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late Edwin R. and Viola Spivey Griffin. She was a 1944 graduate of Greenwood High School, retired in 1989, as a loan officer from Mutual Savings & Loan and was previously employed with Dixie Hardware.
She was a member of Jordan Memorial Baptist Church, where she and Mr. Gunnells were very active, having worshipped there for over 73 years. She served on many various committees and taught Sunday School for many years. Mrs. Gunnells was a volunteer at Hospice & Palliative Care of the Piedmont's Hospice House.
Surviving are a son, Barry and wife Ginny Gunnells of Greenwood; a daughter, Nira and husband John Daleda of Surfside Beach; a brother, Clarence and wife Ruth Griffin of Greenville; two grandchildren, Chad Gunnells of Greenwood and Kea and husband Eric Blevins of Garner, NC; two great-grandchildren, Eva Cook and Ethan Blevins, both of Garner, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 71 years, a sister, Mildred Craft and two brothers, Odell Griffin and Russell Griffin.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Saturday, at the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Andy Bowers officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Phil Risinger, Joe Rollison, George Ferqueron, Barry D. Gunnells, Eric Blevins and Ethan Blevins.
The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 to 11 Saturday morning.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Jordan Memorial Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1267, Greenwood, SC 29648, or to Hospice House, c/o Hospice & Palliative Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29646.
