I.V White Obituary

Bro I.V White Mr. IV White, the beloved husband of Rebecca Lyons White, passed away on January 15, 2019. He was born in the small town of Buckhead, located in Madison County Georgia, on February 6, 1930. He was the son of the late George and Bennie Mae White. He was the oldest of ten children. Mr. White moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1947. He served in the US Military from 1951 to 1953.After leaving the military, he married Ola Bertha Branch, from Social Circle, Georgia, in 1953. She was baptized at the Ford Avenue Church of Christ in 1956. Brother White was also baptized into the Church in 1957 at the Ford Avenue Church of Christ. They moved to Abbeville as a young family in 1959, depending on literally a handful of members for support. He came to Abbeville, by faith. After many years of marriage Sister Ola White passed away in 1980.From this union came four sons, Emanuel, Gary, George III and Isaac . Brother White married Sister Rebecca Lyons White, from this union came two daughters, Endia and Olivia Berniece. Berniece passed away at the age of 14 in 1996.

Through many trials, tribulations, and a great deal of hard work, Brother White went on to be the faithful and dedicated minister and Elder of Haigler Street Church of Christ for over 60 years. Throughout his years of unyielding service he planted and helped to plant many Churches of Christ around the country. He was the president of the Abbeville Civic League.

He thoroughly enjoyed writing and singing hymns, both solo and with various groups. His joy of the Lord shined through his voice when he sang . Brother IV White authored a book about his life of serving the Lord, it was entitled "This is My Story". Gardening was one of Brother White's many talents, from Spring through Summer his beautiful flowers and plants graced the front of the church building.

Left to honor and cherish his memory, in addition to his wife Rebecca, are his Sons: Emanuel(Carolyn) White of Forth Worth , Texas; Gary(Bridget) White of Abbeville, South Carolina; George(Mary) White III of Locust Grove, Georgia; Isaac(Noreen) White of Abilene, Texas; and his daughter, Endia White of Abbeville, South Carolina. Siblings, Sammie(Florence) White, Willie(Anita) White, Odessa(Albert)Bryant and Annie Mae Paxton. Fourteen grandchildren and seven great- grand children. Also mourning his loss are a host of nieces ,nephews, cousins, in-laws and the Haigler Street Church of Christ Church family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Ola Bertha Branch White, his daughter Olivia Berniece White, brothers George White Jr, Jessie White and Harvey White; sisters Lillian White and Gladys Harris.

Public Viewing will be Friday January 18, 2019 from 1-5pm. Visitation will be at Haigler Street Church of Christ Friday January 18, 2019 from 6-8pm.

Funeral Service will be 2pm Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Tomorrow's Youth Center, on the Haigler Street Church of Christ Campus, 284 Taylor Town Road, Abbeville, SC 29620. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. n lieu of flowers the family requests donations to THE OLIVIA BERNIECE WHITE SCHOLARSHIP FUND to assist in the effort of helping students further their education. Donations can be made to Edward Jones Investments at 115 Court Square, Abbeville, SC 29620 or call 864-366-8483. The family is at the home, 233 Taylor Town Road, Abbeville, SC.
