James Parham Obituary

James Barrett "Barry" Parham, of Greer, SC, passed away peacefully On March 26, 2025, leaving imprints of love, laughter, devotion, and faith on the hearts of his friends and family.

Barry was born in Charleston, SC, and grew up in Greenwood, SC. He graduated from Greenwood High School where he was active and excellent in most everything and cherished his many life long friendships. He went on to attend the University of Georgia, earning his degree and creating his obsession for the Georgia Bulldogs. Those that knew him knew not to call during a bulldog football game!

Barry had many outlets for his sharp mind and creativity. He was a talented musician, song writer and lover of all styles of music. He loved his season of acting in productions in Greenwood and Abbeville. Writing was his oxygen. Barry published numerous books and a well followed diatribe blog filled with his clever, cutting and kind observations about how the world works (and often doesn't). His mind and heart were always growing and beautifully expressed to others through humor and kindness. His wit, warmth, and wisdom will be deeply missed by all who knew Him.

Barry held a special place in his heart for who he called "his favorite niece" , Lila Grace Parham and "his other favorite niece", Claire Parham, whom he adored and spoiled with love.

Barry is survived by his brother, Kenneth Parham; sister-in-law, Diane McDaniel Parham; and his beloved nieces, Lila Grace Parham and Claire Parham and his great nephew, Crew Caron. He was preceded in death by his brother, Craig and his parents, Jack and Barbara Parham.

Barry trusted Jesus with His life and He was his hope in death. He is now fully himself, reunited with family and in the presence of his savior.

A worship service to celebrate Barry's life will be held at a later date at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home in Greenville, SC. Please check their website for updates on the service details.

Barry's family extends their heartfelt gratitude for all condolences.

In lieu of flowers, they kindly request donations to the Craig Holbrook Parham Scholarship, care of First Baptist Church, 722 Grace Street, Greenwood, SC 29649.

I graduated with Barry and worked with Dr. Jack for a number of years! There wasn´t a physician in the hospital that I respected or looked up to more than Dr.Jack! Barry knew this as I shared many stories with him! I´m so sorry for your loss!
