James Reynolds Obituary

James B. 'Jimmie' Reynolds, 87, of Calhoun Falls, husband of the late Clarice Rucker Jordan Reynolds, died Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at the Abbeville Nursing Home. He was born in Calhoun Falls to the late Robert B. and Sarah Evelyn Cannon Reynolds.

Mr. Reynolds proudly graduated from Calhoun Falls High School, Class of 1955. He honorably served his country in the United States Air Force where he exemplified courage and selflessness in defense of the nation. Following his military service, Mr. Reynolds embarked on a remarkable career with the Town of Calhoun Falls Water Treatment Plant, retiring after 32 years of dedicated service.

In his spare time, he found immense joy in giving back to his community. He coached Little League baseball for many years, impacting the lives of countless young athletes. His unwavering support for the Calhoun Falls Blue Flashes football team was unmatched and his role as the press box announcer for 40 years made him a familiar voice on game days. Mr. Reynolds was an avid Gamecock fan and former member of the Gamecock Club, never missing a game as long as his health allowed. He also enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox every chance he could.

Fondly known as 'BopBop' to his family and many others, Mr. Reynolds' legacy will live on through his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many friends. He formerly attended Calhoun Falls Pentecostal Holiness Church and most recently worshipped at Lowndesville Pentecostal Holiness Church.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Reynolds was preceded in death by his daughter, Jackie Garrett and sister, Claudine R. Sorrow and her husband, Rev. J.C. Sorrow.

He is survived by his three daughters, Karen Sorrow (Benjy) of Calhoun Falls, Danna Norman (Jimmy) of Abbeville, and Lori Argo (Scott) of Greenwood; sister, Nancy Suttlemyre (Tom) of Greenwood; son-in-law, Terry Garrett of Greenwood; seven grandchildren, April Rice Prince (Patrick), Suzanne Sorrow Hatchell (Hank), Fran Sorrow Brown (Craig), Jonathan S. Argo (Alisha), Joshua K. Chrisley, Joseph J. Argo (Shelby) and Jeremy J. Chrisley; and eleven great-grandchildren, Elayna, Addison, Wyatt, Adam, Slade, Sydney, Benjamin, Chloe, Evan, Emily and Margaret.

The family will receive friends 3:00PM - 4:00PM, Friday, June 28, 2024, at Harris Funeral Home, Calhoun Falls Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 4:00PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Scotty Willoughby officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
