Jimmy Corley

James "Jimmy" Noble Corley, 86, of Greenwood, husband of Beth Banks, passed away Monday, June 2, 2025 at Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on April 14, 1939, in Greenwood, he was the son of the late James A. Corley and Virginia Mae Wilson Corley and raised by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ebbie Wilson. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School and went on to have a fulfilling career as a supervisor at Monsanto, where he earned the nickname "Boss Hog" that stuck with him throughout his life.

A proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, Jimmy served his country with honor and integrity, values that he carried into every aspect of his life.

He was formerly an active member of Rehoboth Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir, bringing joy to many with his love for gospel hymns. In recent years, he found a new church home at North Side Baptist Church, with his wife, Beth.

Known for his warmth, generosity, and baking skills, Jimmy delighted family and friends with his famous homemade cakes and scrumptious peanut brittle. He was an avid Atlanta Braves, hardly ever missing watching a game. He had an unconditional love for his family that will deeply be missed by his wife, children, and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Beth he is survived by his children, Robby Corley (Karla), Ginger Carter (Scott), and Gina Wood (Brian); stepchildren, Jeff Banks, Kim B. Durham, and Brent Banks; grandchildren, Ryan Skidmore, Madelyn Wood, Patrick Wood, and Jaxon Carter; six step grandchildren; two great grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Bryan Summey.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Nancy Summey Corley; stepmother, Trudy Corley; and beloved fur baby, Max.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday at Rehoboth Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeff Lethco and Rev. Randy Ouzts. Burial, with military honors, follow at the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be the Harley Funeral Home staff.

Honorary escort will be members of the Friendship Sunday school class at North Side Baptist Church and members of the Margaret Henderson Sunday school class at Rehoboth Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Harley Funeral Home.
