Katherine E. Nolen

Katherine Evelyn Nolen, 88, formerly of Waterloo, South Carolina passed away peacefully on Friday, September 12, 2025, in York, Pennsylvania. She was born on August 22, 1937, in Washington, D.C. to the late Lewis Jr. and Katherine M. (Cox) Johnson.

Katherine was a member of Waterloo United Methodist Church and was active there for many years. Katherine retired as an arts and crafts teacher at the South Carolina Department of Mental Health after 23 years of service and continued that passion into her retirement. She enjoyed the outdoors and would often go fishing and spend time in her flower garden. Above all else, Katherine loved her family, especially her grandbabies.

In addition to her parents, Katherine was preceded in death by her loving husband, John S. Nolen, Jr.; son, John L. Nolen; granddaughter, Angela Ordway; and her brother, Lewis Johnson III.

Surviving is her daughter, Debra Ordway and husband Aaron of Windsor, PA; son, David Nolen of Wasilla, Alaska; granddaughter, Denise Ordway of Camp Hill, PA; and numerous extended family and friends.

A graveside service will be held 11:00am on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Greenwood Memorial Gardens, 3302 US-25, Hodges, SC 29653.
