Ken Harvley Obituary

Kenneth Steven Harvley, 73, of Greenwood, husband of Terina Lowery Harvley, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2025 at his home.

He was born on July 21, 1952 in Greenwood, South Carolina.

Ken was a United States Army veteran, where he served during the Vietnam Conflict.

For more than 30 years, Ken owned and operated A1 Septic Tank Services, building not only a successful business but also a reputation as someone you could always count on. He believed in lending a helping hand, and you never saw him without one-whether he was baling hay, herding cattle, or simply picking up what others overlooked and seeing its worth.

A true country soul, Ken cherished the simple joys of life. He was happiest when tending to his cattle, goats, and chickens, each one cared for with devotion. Over the years, countless dogs also found a home in Ken's heart, each one receiving the same steady love and companionship. When the work was done, he enjoyed settling in to watch his beloved Westerns and the daily weather reports, both of which became his faithful routines.

The greatest joy and love of Ken's life was his wife, Terina. Together for 35 years and married for 33, they were inseparable. They were not only husband and wife but also best friends and soulmates. Their love story was one of true love, daily laughter, and small every day traditions that meant everything to each other. One of the sweetest of those traditions was their "double peck"-two quick kisses, whether they were saying hello, goodbye, or just reminding each other that their love was steady and true. To Ken, Terina was the heart of his world, and the bond they shared was as unshakable as it was beautiful. His love for her was indescribable, but it was seen in every smile, every touch, and every day they spent together.

In addition to his wife, Terina, Ken is survived by his children, David Harvley (Tracy Fuller), Dannette Sherfield (T.J.), and Matt Lowery (Jeff Klein); chosen son, Patrick Davis; grandchildren, Halie Duncan (Morgan Williams), Taylor Cunningham (Dray), and Devyn Harvley; great grandchildren, Katherine Duncan, Carson Cunningham and Cooper Cunningham; niece, Cassie Pruitt (Glenn) and their daughter, Braelyn Pruitt (Tanner Helper); nephew, Craig McCarthy;; and fur babies, Peaches, Grover, and Butch.

He was preceded in death by his in-laws, Kat and Jimmy Lowery; aunt, Pearl Wood; and sister-in-law, Jamie McCarthy.

Services were held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Ouzts and Allen Tucker are officiating. Entombment followed at Greenwood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

The family received friends before the service from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Greenwood, PO Box 49776, Greenwood, SC 29649 (www.gwdhumanesociety.org).
