Martha Redick Obituary

Martha Thomas Dowling Redick, 86, widow of Laurie Sims Redick, Jr. resident of Lexington, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at Prisma Health Baptist Hospital in Columbia.

Born May 29, 1938, in New York, NY, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Irving Dowling and Fleda Alma Purkerson Dowling. Mrs. Redick was a graduate of Greenwood High School, Converse College, and Duke University where she received her degree in Physical Therapy. She worked as a Physical Therapist for many years until her retirement from Self Memorial Hospital.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Greenwood as well as the Granby Daughter of the American Revolution, and a Life member of the American Physical Therapy Association.

Surviving are her daughter, Laurie Thomas Redick Anderson (Stuart) and granddaughter, Martha Thomas Anderson, all of Hillsboro, OR.

In addition to her parents and husband of 38 years, Mrs. Redick was preceded in death by an infant brother, Thomas Irving Dowling, Jr. and infant sister.

Graveside services will be held 12 Noon Friday, May 9, 2025 at Oakbrook Memorial Park with Rev. John Uldrick officiating.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Greenwood, 722 Grace St., Greenwood, SC 29649.
