Ms. Polly Parham, 96, formerly of Elberton, GA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at National HealthCare in Greenwood, SC.
Allie Pauline Hendricks was born in the Paoli Community of Madison County, GA on January 13, 1929, daughter of the late James Boyd Hendricks and Etta Mae Coile Hendricks. Polly worked as a seamstress for many years and retired from Elberton Manufacturing Company. She was a dedicated member of Calvary Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, choir member, and pianist.
Affectionately known as "Granny", she was an excellent cook whose green beans and corn were family favorites. She tended a large garden annually and enjoyed canning and freezing the fruits of her labor. Polly's seamstress abilities carried over into her personal life. She spent many hours with her sisters quilting, and made quilts for her children and grandchildren. Above all, she loved her family dearly and they were her most prized possession.
Surviving are her children and their spouses: Kay and Fred Crowe and Eddie and Alison Parham, all of Greenwood, SC; sister, Edna Tawney of Greenwood, SC; grandchildren and their spouses: Freddy and Melanie Crowe of Knoxville, TN, Laura and Sean McSwain of Hanahan, SC, Chandler Burns of Greenwood, SC, and Paul Thomas of Greenwood, SC; great-grandchildren: Avery, Hudson, Brynn, Wyatt, Ava, and Anakin; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Randall Bruce "Randy" Parham; and siblings: Nina Black, Ozelle Hall, Ellie Mae Hendricks, Thelma Hall, Randolph Hendricks, and Carl Hendrix.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 16, from 10:00-10:45a.m. at Berry Funeral Home. Funeral services, officiated by the Rev. Sean McSwain, will follow at 11:00a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in the Hendricks family lot of the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Comer, GA.
