Vivian W. Anders

Vivian W. Anders, 88, of 1110 Marshall Road, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Wesley Commons Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Anders was born and raised in Bakersville, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents Brown F. Wilson and Trula Willis Wilson of Bakersville, NC; and her husband, Kenneth C. Anders, Jr. of Greenwood, SC.

Surviving are her son, Greg Anders and wife Cindy of Greenwood, SC; brother, Thomas Wilson and wife Beth of Bakersville, NC; brother, James Wilson and wife Mary Jo of Boyne City, MI; brother, Morris Wilson and wife Carol of Jensen Beach, FL; niece, Sharon Wilson Haddad; and niece, Carla Albrecht.

Mrs. Anders was a 1953 graduate of Bowman High School in Bakersville, NC, and Blanton's Business College of Asheville, NC. She married Kenneth C. Anders in 1955 and was his devoted wife and partner for 62 years.

After a few years working as a bookkeeper for companies in Asheville, NC and Greenville, SC, she devoted the rest of her life to homemaking, supporting her husband, raising her son, and volunteering for various organizations. Most notably, she served tirelessly for over 20 years in the Self Regional Hospital Gift Shop, where her co-workers affectionately referred to her as "The Rose Queen," in honor of her and skills for lovingly creating the flower arrangements sold to visitors.

Mrs. Anders was a member of the First Baptist of Greenwood, where she served as a children's Sunday School teacher and offered her time and talent for various committees and special ministries.

Throughout her life she faithfully served her family and friends, using her God-given talents and self-taught skills for cooking, gardening, flower arranging, carpentry, painting and interior decorating. She was an avid Bridge player, a devoted North Carolina Basketball fan, a voracious reader of mystery and romance books, and loving grandma for her granddog, Ollie.

A service of remembrance will be held at the Oakbrook Cemetery Mausoleum on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 2:30 pm, with visitation immediately prior at 1:30 pm. Officiating will be Rev. Dr. Amy Jennings, with Dr. Keith Jameson singing.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Mrs. Anders are requested to be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont, 408 West Alexander Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29646 (careofthepiedmont.org/donate).
