Deacon William "Lonell" Bland Sr.

Homegoing Service for Deacon William "Lonell" Bland, Sr. of McCormick will be held Monday, February 19, 2024, at 12:00 PM at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in McCormick with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery. Deacon Bland will be place in the church one hour prior to the service on Monday. Public visitation will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2024 from 3 - 5 PM at Bostick-Tompkins Funeral Home, McCormick.

Bostick-Tompkins Funeral Home, McCormick is in charge of the service.

Deacon Bland went home to be with the Lord on February 13, 2024. Born in McCormick County, he was the son of the late Willie and Louellen Prince Bland, and the widower of Mamie Adams Bland. He was educated in the public schools of McCormick County and retired from Milliken after 30 years of dedicated service. He was a dedicated member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church where he served as Deacon for more than 50 years, was a member of the Benevolence Ministry, the Senior Choir and the B-Boardman of the Union Third Division. He is lovingly survived by two sons, William (JoiAshia) Bland, Jr. of Annandale, VA, and Demarcus Bland of McCormick, SC; his daughter, Kimberly Bland; three grandchildren, Camille, Maybee and William; brothers, Marion T. Bland, John (Ojetta) Bland and James (Myrtle )Bland; and his sister, Mae Frances Patterson, all of McCormick, SC; sisters-in-law, Elnora Talbert, Judy (Fab) Burt, and Juanita Chiles; a host of nephews, nieces and other loving relatives and dear friends.
