Amy Tucker Obituary

Amy M. Tucker

Indianapolis - Amy Marie (Harless) Tucker

February 7, 1971 - January 13, 2018

It is with great sadness that we announce that Amy passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018 after a 3.5-year struggle with Leukemia. Amy, 46, died peacefully with her family, friends, and loving husband of 16 years by her side. Amy was born in Indianapolis on February 7, 1971 to Robert (Bob) and Mary (O'Connor) Harless. She was preceded in death by her father, Bob, in 1990.

She was a graduate of Roncalli High School with the class of 1989. Amy had various careers in retail, banking, and working in the offices of Eagle Creek OB-GYN. Amy had a special gift for explaining difficult medical issues in layman's terms, with a caring heart. Her favorite career, by far, was being a stay at home mother. Amy loved music, reading, crocheting, spending time and traveling with her family and friends. Her favorite place to travel was to any beach where she could be warm and put her toes in the sand.

Amy's motto was, "Try to be the best part of someone's day." She never met a stranger, and her heart was always open to those she encountered. She knew that you never can tell what someone is dealing with on the inside, so you must be nice to everyone. Her motto will forever remind us of the love she brought to our lives and the countless lives she touched in her short 46 years.

Survivors include her loving husband, H. Charles "Chuck" Tucker; adoring daughters, Paige M. and Riley E. Tucker both of Indianapolis; her mother, Mary Moody of Indianapolis; her brother, Bob (Anne) Harless of Indianapolis; two sisters, Beth (Chris) Bobko of Indianapolis and Becky (Jim) Coovert of New Palestine; many nieces and nephews; and her best friends: Christy Vavra, Kate Andrews, Elaine Jennings, Anita Graves and Brian Morris.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Amy Tucker from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at the Daniel F. O'Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East Street, Indianapolis. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Indianapolis. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Indiana Chapter, 9075 N. Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN 46260. You are invited to visit www.OrileyFuneralHome.com where you may express online condolences with Amy's family.

On behalf of the Société de Police - IPD Adam & Edward, our condolences to the family and friends of Amy M. (Harless) Tucker on learning of her passing.

To the family we offer the following thoughts: All that we can know about those we have loved and lost is that they would wish us to remember them with a more intensified realization of their reality. What is essential does not die but clarifies. The highest tribute to the dead is not grief but gratitude.
