Bette "Elizabeth Ann" Zlotnik
93 of Carmel, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2011, with her family around her. She was the widow of the late Maurey Zlotnik. They were married 64 years at the time of his death in 2003. She was born on October 10, 1918. in Terre Haute, IN to Beulah (Kinder) and Marian Sanders. Bette was a beloved mother to her daughters, Marianne (James) Brocke of Carmel and Marcel (Richard) Raduenzel of Schererville, IN, a loving grandmother to Jonathan Burman (Chicago, IL), Jason Brocke (Camarillo, CA), Jennifer Meece (James) of Carmel, Cally Raduenzel (Lombard, IL) and Robert Raduenzel (Jaime) of Hauula, HI. Complete joy came from her four great-grandchildren, Melissa and Katherine Brocke (Solvang, CA) and Benjamin and baby Anna Elizabeth Meece (Carmel).
Bette met Maurey while he was a student at Indiana State. She went to his football games and tennis matches. After they married they moved to Hammond, IN, where his coaching and teaching job took them. She complemented his role as the football coach at Morton High School and attended his games through his long, successful career, including state championship in 1966. She was his proudest supporter and never stopped talking about those years and the interesting life they had together. In 1987, they moved to Carmel, where their game days still occurred. They attended Carmel High School football games and swim meets and followed their grandchildren's college careers.
She was bright, independent, spirited and fun and showed her innate sense of style in her appearance, in her homes and also as an interior designer for over 40 years. She never stopped using buzz words of her profession and even recently was planning Anna's nursery.
She will be remembered for her thoughtful ways with her family, her friends and neighbors.
