82, of Indianapolis, passed away October 23, 2017.She served as Administrator for the Center Township Trustee's office from 1967 til 1986. She retired from the Indiana Civil Rights Commission in 2008. She was Democratic Chairwoman of the Fourth Ward.Founder and Director of the Jordan- Aires Gospel Choir and Radio Personality " The Heartbeat of Gospel Music " at WTLC 105.7Visitation and Musical Sunday, October 29, 2017 at 3:00 pm at Christ Missionary Baptist Church 1001 Eugene St.Victory Celebration at 5:00 pmBurial Crown Hill Cemetery. Arrangements: Boatright Family Funeral Service.

Burnett’s was such an outstanding lady! I use to work for the state of Indiana House of Representatives and sat right next to her for a year till we lost our jobs. She was such an outstanding person and friend that I was always so happy to call my friend! Fly high mrs Sloss tanner!!! Till we meet again!!!!

"Miss Bernetta" was how I was introduced to and came to know this great woman. Her faith in God allowed her strong and sharing spirit to help guide and protect her community. She was a warrior for us both in spirit and deed. I know she will be welcomed in Heaven and like the person she most reminded me of, might now feel:

She is home now but she will be greatly missed by family and those she helped throughout her life. My sincere condolences to the family.

Burnetta Sloss-Tanner was an excellent organizer. I volunteered for the Dr. Martin Luther King, J r. programs when she worked at Indiana Civil Rights commission, she coordinated the volunteers, groups of children that came to the programs and performers as well. I admired her professional and organization skills,and she did the above with a smile. Rest in peace, Burnetta, job well done. Gloria Eley

I remember singing for her at Church of the Living God as a child at IN THE RAPTURE during the 70's with Alan Avery, Charles anderson, and Donald Davis. She is now directing that great choir of Heavenly hosts. She is sadly missed.
