Carol A. Klepfer Murphy Went to be with the Lord on October 28, 2009. She was the beloved mother of Marie (Maurice) Noellsch and Eric (Lisa) Murphy; beloved grandmother of Zachary and Emily; dear daughter to Margaret and the late Komer Klepfer; sister to John, Steven and the late Andrea; dear wife of Chuck Murphy; and friend to hundreds. Carol was born in Oaklandon, Indiana, on January 29, 1943, and attended Indiana University (Bloomington) after high school. Upon receiving her teaching degree at IU, she went on to teach high school, junior high, and adult education in various cities in Indiana and Illinois. After "retiring" from teaching she went on to be a highly-valued administrative assistant to several architectural firms and more recently Salem in Ladue United Methodist Church in St. Louis where she was very joyfully employed. She was a long-time member of and a Stephen Minister at St. Mark Presbyterian Church in Ballwin, MO; she was also a very active staff member and worshiper at Salem in Ladue UMC for the last several years. Throughout her life Carol was devoted to selflessly investing her time, gracious personality and many talents to serving others. She served in various capacities within the Epsilon Sigma Alpha (ESA) Foundation , including the role of Chairman and member of the Board of Directors, and in addition was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star fraternal organization. She will be greatly missed by her family and everyone who ever had the privilege of knowing her. An open memorial service will be held at Salem in Ladue United Methodist Church (1200 S. Lindberg Blvd., St. Louis, MO) at 1:30 p.m., on Sat., Oct. 31; reception for all who wish to attend will be held immediately following the service. A graveside service will be conducted in Oaklandon, IN, Monday, Nov. 2, at 2 p.m. Memorials in Carol's honor may be directed to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital, the National MS Society, and the ESA Foundation.
