I loved Charlie so much! (Or Charles Ray, as we called him when I was a child.) He was named for his mother's brother, my dad Ray Robbins, and I first met him in the mid-50's when we moved from New Mexico to Evanston, Illinois and came down to see him and my dad's other relatives in Indianapolis. He was kind, thoughtful, loving, handsome, a devoted husband and father, and the best cousin anyone could ever imagine. My sisters and I were late life children for our dad, so we were young enough to be Charlie's nieces. Our dad died when we were still teenagers, but when our mother died 25 years later in NM, we brought her ashes back to be buried beside our dad in Somerset, Kentucky. We expected that the graveside service would just be attended by my two sisters and me, since Mother had been away from Kentucky for so long. But Charlie and Alberta came all the way from Indianapolis to be with us. I'll never forget this amazing kindness. He always reminded me of another spectacularly kind person, his mother Ima, our lovely aunt.

Charlie was the patriarch of such a fine family, leaving behind a great legacy of Christian service and of devotion and commitment to family. May God bless all the descendants as you thank God for the gifts he gave to you all.

We were saddened to hear of Charles Ray's passing from Clay. He was so enthusiastic about everything he did which showed every time we met. He was like glue that bonded his family that drew everyone near to him. As the youngest of his 63 first cousins, one of my favorite memories was his spearheading a cassette tape recording at a family reunion in Indianapolis. I pray that all of those who mourn now will recall his passion for life as we remember his good life and eternal test he has now. Riley Robbins and family, Beckley, WV

I'm saddened by Charlie's passing. He and I were the best of friends. Charlie was a very special person. He loved the Lord and he loved his fellow Christians. You could almost see into his tender heart. I will cherish those memories.
