Charles Wagner Obituary

Mr. Charles "Charlie" Guerin Wagner

Indianapolis - Mr. Charles "Charlie" Guerin Wagner, born on May 5, 1933 in Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away at age 85 on February 7, 2019. Charles was married to his beloved wife Margaret "Muffy" Wagner for 62 years, with whom he raised seven children.

He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1954 and was awarded their "Man of the Year" honor in 1978. Charles served in the Army from 1954 to 1956. As a career businessman and entrepreneur, he founded and managed Wagner Lumber Company, LamFab Construction, LFI and Omega Mortgage. Charles was a licensed pilot and loved flying, sailing, swimming, golf, the symphony, coaching baseball and playing "Hand & Foot". He was active in the Serra Club, Notre Dame Club, and served on the Financial Council to the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. He loved visiting Hilton Head Island as well as Muffy's family home in the seaside town of Scituate, MA. Charles loved music; he played the saxophone in a Notre Dame band, was a member of the Notre Dame Glee Club and loved dancing with his "sweetie" to Big Band music. He was a devout Catholic, serving as an usher and choir member at St. Pius X Catholic Church as well as at Immaculate Heart of Mary. An avid sports fan, he cheered for his Colts, Red Sox, Pacers and of course, his fighting Irish.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary E. Nelson; and sisters, Ann Ely and Caroline Krebs. Charles is survived by his wife Margaret; sons, Charles (Elisa), Daniel (Jon), John, and Michael (Lisa); daughters, Margaret A. Bower (Michael) and Ann M. Bourque (Peter); sister, Ellen Healey; grandchildren, Lauren, Evan, Ian, Heather, Hannah, Nick, Mark, Lexie, Jack, Kathleen, Brendan, Molly, Guerin, Emma, and Mary; great grandchildren Graham and Logan; and niece, Theresa Hufford.

Friends and family members may attend the visitation on Saturday, February 16th from 10:00 to 12:00 p.m. immediately followed by Mass of Christian Burial at noon, both at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 7200 Sarto Drive, Indianapolis.
