Chester Nielsen Obituary

Chester "Chet' Nielsen 89, was born June 15, 1922 in Bristow, Indiana. He is son of Charles and Bessie (Aders) Nielsen. Both parents preceded him in death. On May 1, 1949 he was united in Holy Matrimony to Caroline Ruth Sears of Danville IL. They were married at St. James Methodist Church in Danville, IL and were married for 62 years. Chet was baptized as an infant and at the age of 13 he professed a hope in Christ. While living in Southern Indiana, he was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Evanston, Indiana. He was a faithful member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church for over 50 years after moving to Indianapolis. Chet was a resident of Carmel, Indiana for the last 35 years. He received his elementary education in Bristow, Indiana. He graduated from Bristow High School in Bristow, Indiana in 1939. Chet was employed by Naval Avionics, in Indianapolis prior to enlisting in the Army Air Force. Following service, Chet became a master plumber and started his own plumbing company, Indianapolis Plumbing and Heating. He sold that company and became a residential building contractor in the Indianapolis area. He retired June 15, 1987. He is survived by his wife Caroline Nielsen and their two children, Keith Nielsen, Karen (Rhett) Campbell; his daughter, Sharon (Mike) Fager; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Monday, June 27 from Noon until service time at 2 p.m. in Shirley Brothers Fishers-Castleton Chapel, 9900 Allisonville Road.
