Daniel Veza Obituary

Daniel Theodore Veza, Jr. (Ted)

Daniel Theodore Veza, Jr. (Ted) passed away in the Philippines on January 9, 2017. He was born July 29, 1949. His body has been cremated and his ashes scattered in the Pacific Ocean, at his request. Dan was a proud graduate of Bishop Chatard High School's Class of 1967, Indianapolis, IN, where he was a talented athlete.  He also attended Indiana State University in Terre Haute, IN.

Dan was a true American patriot. At the age of seventeen, he entered the military, volunteering for service to his country. He served in the Vietnam war at great personal cost, as he later suffered from the effects of PTSD and Agent Orange.  Dan was proud of his service to his country, and in his later years, he was seldom seen without the cap identifying him as a "Vietnam Veteran." It warmed his heart to receive a handshake and a "Thank you for your service," from strangers expressing gratitude.

Dan Veza was a Vietnam veteran, a loving son, a caring brother, a supportive uncle, and a friend to all who met him. He knew no strangers. He was deeply committed and loyal to his family, wanting only love and acceptance in return. He was extremely close to many of his nephews and nieces; he loved spending time with them when he traveled home from California to visit with those family members who loved and accepted him. His sweet, generous spirit was evident to all who truly knew him.

Dan was preceded in death by his father, Daniel T. Veza; his mother, Marjorie J. Veza; his younger brother, Thomas F. Veza; his wife, Joan Veza; and his stepson, Carlo Flora. He will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him.

I went to High School with Dan and he was a special person then and from reading about his life now I can see he continued to be a special soul. I was looking forward to seeing him at our 50th reunion. We had just made contact on facebook. He'll be missed.

On behalf of the Société de Police - IPD Adam & Edward, our condolences to the family and friends of Daniel Theodore Veza Jr., on learning of his departure from his earthly life, in the Philippines, on 9 Jan 2017.

May the Great Spirit, who has always known of your sorrow, now have brought peace, comfort, and healing to your soul.

To the family we offer the following thought that was written for times like this: The morning glory blooms but for an hour and yet it differs not at heart from the giant pine that lives for a thousand years.
