Darrell McConnell Obituary

Darrell McConnell 74, of Noblesville died Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville. Mr. McConnell was a production manager for Topics Newspapers and the Noblesville Daily Ledger for 43 years. After his retirement, he worked part-time at the Sears Essentials store in Noblesville. He was born Oct. 24, 1933, in Anderson, the son of Paul and Helen (Reddin) McConnell. He was married to Shirley McConnell, who survives him. Mr. McConnell enjoyed Home Craftsmen Forum, an Indianapolis-based woodworking club. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Ron Gerber and Robin and Dan Keith, all of Noblesville; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Teri McConnell of Anderson and Steve and Sharrie McConnell of Greenfield; a brother, Richard "Mac" McConnell of Kokomo, Ind.; two sisters, Judie Gossard and Joyce Small, both of Sheridan; eight grandchildren, Jeff Gerber, Matt Gerber, Mike Gerber, Jason Cox, Jeremy Cox, Kelli Cox, Heather McConnell and Chelsea McConnell; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandchild, Gary McConnell; two sisters; and one brother. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. John Crump will officiate. Burial will be in Crownland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
