David Sparks Obituary
68, passed away April 11, 2016, at home surrounded by loved ones. He was born July 3, 1947 in Decatur, IL to the late Earl and Hazel Sparks. He leaves behind his loving wife of 48 years, Linda Sparks; his daughters, Lorie Nell and Tina Amestoy, son in laws Tim Nell and Chris Amestoy; siblings Charles, Shirley, Mary, Phillip, Jim, and Tom; and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister and 3 brothers. He was loved by his family and friends, because he always put others first.
David proudly served in the United States Army for 27 years. He served 3 tours in Vietnam, receiving a Legion of Merit, Purple Heart, and a Bronze Star. After retirement, he worked for 22 years as a supervisor with the Defense Finance Accounting Services.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society and American Lung Association. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 18th, 2016 at Camp Butler National Cemetery, 5063 Camp Butler Road, Springfield, IL 62707.
