Debra Lewis Obituary

Debra A. Lewis

Brownsburg - Debra Lewis of Brownsburg, an extraordinary wife, mother, and grandmother, left to join the Lord on Thursday, June 3, 2021, surrounded by loved ones. She was 65 years old.

She was born Debra Ann Stowell in 1955 in Brainerd, Minnesota, to parents Eldon Stowell and Alice (Preisinger) Stowell. She was united in marriage to Eugene Lewis, Jr. in a Great Smoky Mountain wedding in 1984. Debra was full of energy, zest, and the love of life. Not much slowed her down, so it was often joked that Minnesota was much faster paced, and Indiana was much to slow for her.

Debra enjoyed traveling every year to New Smyrna Beach with her family. She also enjoyed photography, capturing the love and joy of her life. Ultimately, Debra's passion was serving and taking care of others. She travelled for years caring for her parents, raised two grandchildren, and worked as a dedicated Home Care Specialist for IU Health for 15 years, before retiring in 2020.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, David Stowell. She is survived by her husband Eugene Lewis Jr.; children Kimberlee Compliment Bobzien (husband Matthew) and Jason Compliment; Five grandchildren Ashlee, Savannah, Gracyn, Madyson and Jaden; Sisters Donna Blizzard and Deanna Clark, as well as many other relatives.

Visitation will be from 4 - 6 pm Tuesday June 8th at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg. Funeral service will follow at 6 pm.

God blessed me with the most amazing mother. My heart is shattered into a million little pieces, and I'm devestated. You were my role model and my best friend. You have always empowered and inspired me. I will be sucessful if I can just become half the nuturing and caring person you were to others. Some how I need to figure out how to move forward without your dynamic personality, and wisdom by my side. I'm honored having you as my mother. Missing you is excruciating painful. I promise you I will become a relentless force just like you. Rest easy beautiful momma. I know you're with Jesus. I love you. Kimberlee

Debbie was the most kindest, loving friend you could ever have. We called each other sisters because we were born on the same day. Debbie was a fixer. Her spirit was genuine. She loved her husband dearly, her children and her grandchildren and all her family. GOD is keeping her now safe until he returns. It won't be long, we will see her again. Plan to be there too! Her loving friend and play sister Terri King.

In loving memory of a dear friend. It’s said that certain friends are more like family, and that’s the way we feel about Debbie and Skip. We have known Debbie for over 30 years, our sons grew up together, our older granddaughters have played together. Her grandchildren was her world. She will be missed by everyone. Gone to soon but never forgotten.
Your long time friends,
Jeff and Annette
