Dixie Lee Hughes
77, of Greenfield, passed away on August 1, 2012, at Hancock Regional Hospice. Born on July 23, 1935, in Shoals, Indiana, she was the daughter of Eugene and Anna (Saucerman) Savage. Dixie married John Hughes on May 7, 1950, in Indianapolis and they were married for 62 years. She worked at Rough Notes as a book binder for over 15 years before retiring. Mrs. Hughes was a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge #17 and of the Greenfield Country Club. She loved golfing, bowling, and antiquing.
Surviving are her husband, John R. Hughes of Greenfield; son, Richard Lee Hughes of Greenfield; sister, Patricia Ann Walters of Loogootee, Indiana; many nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; and siblings, Phil Savage, Don Savage, Mary Reed, and Darlene Hook.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, August 4, 2012, at 1:30 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Visitation will take place from Noon until the time of the service. Burial will take place at Anderson Cemetery in Indianapolis.
