Dollie DuMontelle Obituary

Indianapolis - Dollie Louise Bridgewater was born in Austin, IN, on November 9, 1934, to Hollis and Goldie Wilma (Maines) Bridgewater. When they lived in Covington, IN, they were befriended by the John L. Peters family (daughters Mamie Nelson and Helen Aldridge). In 1944 Dollie moved to Marion, IN and graduated from Marion High School. She met and married her husband Paul B. DuMontelle while attending DePauw University. Upon his graduation from Lehigh University, Paul worked for the Homestake Gold Mining Company. In 1963, they moved to Urbana, IL and remained there until Paul retired from the Illinois State Geological Survey. They moved to Indianapolis, IN, in 2018 to be nearer to family. Dollie was active in all phases with their five children's lives and with farming. She served for over 25 years as an auxiliary volunteer with Burnham-Mercy-Covenant-Provena Hospital. For over 15 years she and Paul spearheaded welcoming receptions for new American citizens through DAR. Dollie was active with Urbana First United Methodist Church, PEO, DAR, CAR, the Urbana Free Library, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, and Alpha Gamma Delta. She proudly completed her own academic Bachelor of Arts degree in 1992!

Dollie is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Gerald Lee and Bobbie Don, and her husband. She is survived by their children: John (Karla), Jeff (Janine), JoEllen (George), Jim (Vicki) and Jay (Diane), 12 grandchildren, and three great-granddaughters, 7 nieces and nephews and two special families, the Ron and Kris Berman family and Wen-June and Catty Su Family. By her own request, there will be no services. Donations may be made to the Danville (Indiana) United Methodist Church.
