Floyd Wood Obituary
age 92, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2016 in Greenwood. Floyd was born on July 7, 1924 to James and Hazel Wood (Ward) in Nineveh, IN. He graduated from Nineveh High School in 1942. It was during these years in Nineveh that he met the love of his life, Alice Elizabeth (Betty) Riggs.
Floyd attended Franklin College and graduated from Indiana University in 1948 with a degree in marketing. He joined Farm Bureau Insurance in 1949 and retired as a vice president on December 31, 1986.
Floyd and Betty married on August 6, 1950 and had three daughters, 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling, square dancing and church activities with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty; daughters, Rebecca Rhodes, Marilyn Wood and Diane Jones (Kenny); grandchildren, Jennifer Muller (Kevin), Allison Dutton (Nathan), Michael Moonan, Catherine Moonan , Daniel Moonan, Kim Eckert (Nathan), Natalie Desser (Tim), Hannah Jones, Kenneth Jones Jr.(Amy) and Bradley Jones.
A funeral service for Floyd will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Services and Crematory at 481 West Main Street, Greenwood, IN 46142. The family will be receiving guests at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will immediately follow at Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Greenwood Christian Church, where Floyd was a long-time member. Dear Betty and Family; I'm not going to be able to come to the funeral, but you know that my thoughts and prayers are with you. Floyd and I both started at Farm Bureau in 1949 and retired the same day in 86. He was a great friend and we enjoyed working with each other for those 37 years. We'll see him again in heaven.
