Even I didn't know him, I think about him often. He was certainly full of wit and spunk and I'm sorry I missed the chance to know him. Be sure and smile when you think of him. He would love that.

I remember Freddy, Irv, and Priscilla fondly from Troop 2 days in Cleveland. Fred and Irv were both hilarious and I think of them often when I am back in the old neighborhood. So sorry to come across this obit., but glad that Freddy went out on his own terms.

Freddy was my gym husband. Well mine and several other women at the gym. Freddy was truly one in a million and I’ll not likely have another gym husband like him. He made us laugh so often when he didn’t feel well enough to laugh himself. He was the best Darth Vader besides Darth Vader. He and his nephew Josh were a tag team of entertainment always. Freddy I hope you’re enjoying that margarita and any other treats. You deserve it!

Though so fragile medically, Fred was such a strong man on so many levels. I was so blessed that our paths met when he was just a little boy and that we shared so much of our lives together. My son, Quinn, was more like his brother than a nephew. They had such amazing times together and we all got to enjoy so much love and endless laughs together with Grampa Irv, Gramma Priscilla & Aunt Rosie. As time went on and Aunt Rosie needed help, noone took better care of her than Fred. His heart was huge, his funny bone was highly developed & his love for family, friends & animals was unparalleled. The earth should've paused as Fred passed on. Though his physical presence will be sorely missed, his spirit, love and the memories that we hold dear will always stay in our hearts and bring many smiles to our faces. May God comfort all impacted by Fred's passing and bring to mind all of the extraordinary memories that he imprinted in our beings.
You got it, Fred, the love lives on!

‘Probably one of the best obits I’ve ever read. Although I never knew Mr. Hoffman, his personality and humor leaps out—thank you for making me laugh! What a rare, wonderful soul who can be “inappropriate” even in an obituary. A pray of comfort to his family.

Fred you were a class act and I'll miss our random Facebook conversations. Thank you for being your true self through a life of struggle. You got the best parts of GMA and GPA'S sense of humor. I'm proud to have known you and loved you.

I did not know Fredrick, and regret our paths did not cross. Reading his life recap-in his own words- brought forth his immense spirit, positive attitude...and humor! On this Monday, reading about Fredrick, I am inspired by the power of love and what it really looks like. And it is clear that your impact on your extended family, caregivers and others will live on in memories and stories, and most importantly, in how they live their lives. God bless you and your family during this difficult time.

I did not know Frederick, but the last name caught my eye, since I was a Hoffman from Pennsylvania before I married and got a new last name. So, I read the obit, and I have to say, it was the first one I have ever seen written by the deceased. And it reveals a unique and charming spirit. So, I want to wish his family grace and peace to fill the Fred shaped hole in their lives, and to ditto his last words there, love lives on.

I also did not know Fredrick, but I would have loved to listen to his stories! I will pour some out for you homie, and I just bought a new tree that I will now dub Freddie. You look and sound more like a Freddie. Sending his loved ones my love and condolences. Sue, take good care of those remains.

I really wish I could have known Frederick Sydney Hoffman. What a wonderful world it would be if more people had the attitude and humor he expressed so well in that great obituary. The picture of that beautiful man with his beautiful dog led me to the ICAN site. Thank you for that!
If Frederick has left behind more writings, I hope they can be shared someday. God bless you, Frederick’s friends and family.
Sincerely, Cookie Holmes
