Cheryl Devrow Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rodenberger-Gray Funeral Home - Napoleon on Mar. 13, 2026.
Cheryl Ann Robbins Devrow, age 80, of Napoleon, Ohio, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family after a brief illness.

Cheryl was born on October 26, 1945, to the late Fred and Thelma (Baker) Robbins in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

Cheryl was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She earned her Bachelor of Science of Social Work from Bowling Green State University in 1983 and her Master of Science in Social Administration from Case Western Reserve University in 1988.

Cheryl worked as the Social Services Supervisor for the Henry County Department of Job and Family Services, as the Child Abuse Program Supervisor at the Family and Child Abuse Prevention Center in Toledo, and from 1991 until her retirement at the end of 2013, Cheryl was the Executive Director of the Center for Child and Family Advocacy.

At different times in her career, Cheryl also acted as a contract therapist for Maumee Valley Guidance Center, Family Services of Northwest Ohio, and Lutheran Social Services. In addition, she was the Court Investigator for Henry County Probate Court for many years and was the Custody Evaluator for Henry County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court for several years until her retirement in 2022. Cheryl served as a member of the boards of trustees for the Center for Child and Family Advocacy and Pillars for Success.

Cheryl was a co-founder of the Henry County Sexual Abuse Prevention Taskforce, which became the Center for Child and Family Advocacy. She also was a co-founder of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Henry County.

Cheryl was named as an Outstanding Alumni of Bowling Green State University in May 1990 and Henry County Citizen of the Year in 1995. In addition, she was named the Symphony of Trees Champion of Children in 2022.

Cheryl is survived by her husband, William Devrow; her children, Desiree (Joel) Sonnenberg and Tiffany (Eric), Sherwood; her stepson, Zack Devrow; and her five grandchildren, Devon (Haley) Sonnenberg, Alexa Sonnenberg, Reid Sonnenberg, Charlie Sherwood, and Bradlie Sherwood. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Tucker and Callie Sonnenberg.

Cheryl's family was very important to her, and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. Through her work advocating for children, she made life better for children and families in northwest Ohio and allowed Henry County and the surrounding area to have services that went above and beyond what was offered elsewhere. She was truly a blessing to our community.

Friends and family will be received at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon, on Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 Noon. (Services will be livestreamed from www.stpaulnapoleon.org) Memorial contributions may be made to Together We Make A Difference or St. Paul Lutheran Church. Online condolences and messages may be shared with the family at rodenbergergray.com. Arrangements entrusted to Rodenberger-Gray Funeral home, Napoleon.
