Susan Atkinson

ATKINSON, Susan Norville – of Davison, age 83, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Serene Gardens of Grand Blanc. A Funeral Service will be held at 12 noon on Monday, March 16, 2026, at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, Michigan; Pastor Sarah LaRose-Nettell officiating. A private interment will take place at Maple Cemetery in Grand Blanc. The family will receive visitors Monday from 10 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Outreach East in honor of Susan.

Susan was born in Washington, D.C., on January 31, 1943, the daughter of the late Carl and Frances "Eve" (Eason) Herr. On August 22, 1965, she married James Atkinson in Bowling Green, Ohio. She earned her bachelor's degree in art education from Bowling Green University and worked for a time as an art teacher, later sharing her artistic talents by teaching pottery classes to others. Soon after completing her degree, Susan chose to pause her career to raise her two sons, a role she valued greatly. Susan and her husband owned and operated Davison Greenhouse for 50 years, dedicating much of their lives to the business and the community it served. In later years, her faith became an important focus in her life, and she followed scripture closely as a guiding presence. Susan was also a devoted animal lover, with a special fondness for her Collies, who were frequently seen running around the family's greenhouse. Independent and creative, she lived life with quiet strength and dedication to the things she cared about most.

Susan is survived by her loving husband, James K. Atkinson; sons: David (Tammy) Atkinson and Michael (Karin) Atkinson; grandchildren: Spencer Atkinson, Andrew Atkinson, Wesley Atkinson and Brooke Atkinson; many other loving family members and friends.
