George Ruddick Obituary
85, of Greenwood, passed away on August 16, 2016 at Greenwood Health and Living Community. He was born on January 27, 1931 in Seymour, Indiana to the late Elmer and Elizabeth (Marsh) Ruddick.
George graduated from Shields High School in Seymour, Indiana and Lain Technical Institute in Indianapolis, Indiana. He served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was employed by the City of Greenwood as Building Commissioner for 17 years. He was the owner of Modular Structures, Inc. in Indianapolis, Indiana. George was a member of the Elks Lodge in Franklin, and Garfield Park United Church of Christ.
George is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Bramlett Ruddick; sons, Stephen (Deborah) Ruddick of McCordsville, Bryan (Denise) Ruddick of Noblesville; five grandchildren, Alex William, Elizabeth Kate, Paige Ann, Samuel Joseph, and Jennah Nadine Ruddick; sister, Ruth Helen (Harold) Sweany and several nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by his brothers, Francis and Harold Ruddick, and a sister, Betty Topie Mosher.
Services will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, 481 W. Main St., Greenwood, IN 46142 with Pastor Mark Radke officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. You may view George's obituary online where you may sign the online guest book or leave a condolence at www.wilsonstpierre.com. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to Garfield Park United Church of Christ, 743 E Pleasant Run Pkwy S Dr., Indianapolis, IN 46203.

I have many fond memories of Uncle George. One in particular was one Christmas at Grandpa and Grandma Ruddicks house. I was in Jr. High taking a Mechanical Drawing class, which I really liked. I had been talking to George about drawing blueprints and buildings and I asked him I needed to be an Architect or a Draftsman to design big buildings. His response was, "You need to be sort of an Architectural Draftsman." Guess you had to be there. I always looked up to my Uncle. I will miss him!

I am so very sorry for your loss. George was a man that simply isn't made any longer. A quiet determination and strength. Even with every eye roll or each huff of exasperation he may have given, the love was always there. Those who knew him were very lucky. After all, if not for him, I would still be wandering around downtown Greenwood all these years later!
