Gladys Lillian Dixon Dodd
96, passed away on March 25, 2012, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Gladys was born on the family farm in Jennings County, Indiana, on March 25, 1916, the daughter of William J. Dixon and Myrtle Lynes Dixon. A 1938 graduate of the Nurses Training School of Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati, Gladys worked as a public health nurse in Indiana and on Indian reservations in the American West until her retirement in 1980. She was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Dodd, sisters Bernice Humphrey and Frances Smith, brothers Dudley Dixon and John Dixon, and nephew Rob Sharer. She is survived by her sister-in-law Dorothy Dodd Richardson, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ralph and Milly Dodd, nieces Sharon Wisco, Susan Wallace and Sally Smith, nephews William Dixon Smith and Don Sharer, great-nephews James K. Wisco and Evan Dixon Smith, great-niece Amelia Smith, and countless dear friends.
Family and friends will gather for a celebration of Gladys' life at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 30, 2012, at Westminster Village North, Sycamore Building, 11050 Presbyterian Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46236. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Indiana State Chapter. Leppert Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
