Harold Lee Sherfield
74, of Spencer, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 30, 2014. Harold was a loving father, brother, uncle, and friend who will be greatly missed. He was born February 5, 1940 in Spencer to Herschel and Lois (Small) Sherfield. He was a 1958 graduate of Spencer High School. He was a retired Indianapolis Police Officer, who proudly served as a Sargeant for 32 years before retiring. He then did work as a security guard for IPL for many years. He was a member of the Spencer Baptist Church and FOP. He loved his family and enjoyed gardening, travelling, was an avid baseball fan, and enjoyed raising animals and poultry on his Spencer farm.
Harold is survived by his sons, Allen Sherfield (Rhonda Nickless) of Indianapolis and Aaron Sherfield (Debbie) of St. Petersburg, FL; a daughter, Arpyl Hanson (Rob) of St. Petersburg, FL; brother, Stan Sherfield (Kay) of Spencer; sister, Susie Davis (Steve) of Spencer, two grandchildren, Brandon and Jordan Calder; and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Wilma Tharpe.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m., Sunday, January 4, 2015 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home . Rev. Shannon Benham will officiate. Friends may call from 1-4 p.m. at the funeral home on Sunday.

We had a ball working fishing camping and gambling a little together.Long ago we went and camped on his property in Spencer.He smiled for two weeks after that. You will be missed by IPD and all.

I am so sorry to hear this news. It was great to be able to spend time with Harold here in Peoria. All the family here visited and had some laughs. He will now be able to join his wonderful wife, Phyllis, I know how much he missed her. R.I.P.

Harold and I were in the same IPD recruit class.
he is a special friend and a good cop. I ran into him many times throughout our carees. RIP Harold. God must have needed another top notch officer for His plans.
