Helen Heath Bland

96, Indianapolis, passed away on December 23, 2016.  

She was born November 12, 1920 in Salt lake City, Utah to the late William Riley and Alice Axelsen Heath. After graduating from West High School in 1938, she entered the Diploma Nursing Program at Holy Cross Hospital, graduating as a registered nurse in 1942. She had a successful nursing career working in various positions throughout her life. She married Forrest "Frosty" Glen Bland October 10, 1942 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She resided in Salt Lake City until 1966. She then moved to Dundee, Oregon and continued her nursing career and later retired and went to work by the side of her late husband in the farm and livestock equipment business.

She and her late husband served a mission for their church in the Texas San Antonio Mission. After returning home they later sold the business and moved to Canby, Oregon where they lived for several years before moving to Indianapolis in 2009. She was a wonderful wife and a devoted mother to 6 children. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

She is survived by two brothers, William T. Heath, Lehi, Utah and Richard L. Heath, Elk Grove, Illinois; her sons, Forrest G. (Joan) Bland  of North Ogden, Utah, Steven C. (Shirleen) Bland of Oregon City, OR, Randall K. (Patricia) Bland of Indianapolis, IN, and Clinton S. (Diane) Bland of Bentonville, AR; daughters Janet L. (Fred) Suchanski of Newberg, OR and Becky A. (Phil) Thompson of Portland, OR;  25 grandchildren, 61 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 6th at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 910 Wallace Avenue, Indianapolis, with visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 5th at the Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Interment will follow the services at 2 p.m. at Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Madison Indiana.
