James M. Withem

James M. Withem passed away at Rosegate Village Rehab on April 14, 2021. Jim was born to Raymond and Sarah Withem, April 27, 1935, at St. Francis Hospital, Beech Grove, IN. He is proceeded in death by his siblings, Bill, Raymond and Patricia. Jim Attended Holy Name grade school and Beech Grove High School. Jim loved life. He loved his Navy Reserve years. He loved his 36 years at Wonder Bread. In 1955 Jim married Mary Margaret (Margie) Huesing. Together, they raised four children: Jimmy, Matthew, Joan Jacobs (Doug), and Monica Davis (Mike).

Jim was a great volunteer. With his wife, he cared for over 50 infants from St. Elizabeth's Home. As his children progressed, he coached CYO basketball, football and kickball for Nativity parish. He started a Special Needs Boy Scout Troop in Franklin Township. Jim bowled many years with the Nativity mixed bowling league with a high game of 297 - a story he loved to tell! As a couple, he and Margie played in a euchre club with life-long friends. Jim thought vacations with his family were a necessity. At age 57, he was able to retire to a lake cottage in Owen County. A retiree's dream to hunt and fish. He made many new friends at Graybrook Lake and St. Jude Catholic Church, Spencer, IN. He loved to entertain friends and family at the lake. He especially enjoyed his five grandsons: Nick, Jeff, Chris, Jack and Eric. Going back to Nativity and Roncalli games were a must! Jim loved his granddaughter-in-laws Erin, Jessica and Brooke who gave him 6 great grandchildren: Lizzy, Nina, Raymond, Leo, Patrick and Weston. God is Good!

Jim loved State Parks. He and Margie visited McCormick's Creek State Park almost every day. Clifty Falls Inn was the site of 65 wedding anniversary celebrations.

At his request, Jim has willed his body to lU School of Medicine. A mass in his honor will be held Wednesday, April 28th, 11:00am, Nativity Catholic Church, 7225 Southeastern Avenue, Indianapolis. COVID guidelines will be practiced.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nativity Catholic School.

Jim was a great person to know. It was easy to see that he loved his God and his family. Memories of seeing Jim at Graybrook Lake enjoying life
