Jesus Quintana Obituary
Jesus Quintana 78, a well known entertainer and local celebrity, best known as a favored troubadour to local celebrity, best known as a favored troubadour to local businesses and at community events, passed away Friday, February 25, 2005 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, with his family at his bedside. Better known as "Jesse", he first arrived in Indianapolis in 1951 with his wife Maria, whom he married May 16, 1948 in Mercedes, TX and two small sons. After a few years working on the railroad and with Wilbert Burial Vault Company in Indianapolis, he decided that music was his passion. Originally starring at the Mexican Village at 22nd and Meridian in the mid sixties and for Randy Galvin's Cabaret Theater in Talbot Village. He then performed at local establishments such as the Embers Lounge, La Pas Mexican Restaurant, Pepe's and the Cancun Mexican Restaurant in Carmel. And we must not forget the rare occasions that Jesse would serenade Joe Rangel at Acapulco Joe's Fine Foods on those late romantic evenings when Joe was missing Mexico. In his later years, Jesse decided to spend more time with his family and friends and would play occasionally at local events. He enjoyed playing for schools in the greater Indianapolis metropolitan area. Jesse had a wide variety of friends with whom he shared his love of music. One of his personal favorites was singing with Dave Lowe, who performed on the piano at the Capri Lounge. He was also well known as an excellent dancer and enjoyed dancing at many venues all over Indianapolis. He especially enjoyed dancing with friends at the Speedway Moose Lodge. Friends and family remember him from the east coast of Florida to the west coast of California. Jesse is survived by his loving wife Maria (Ochoa) Quintana; his fourteen children, Jesus Jr., JuanTomas, Marion Alberto, Rolando, Carlos Arturo, Maria Magdalena, Elizabeth Ann, Nicolas Manuel, Clementina Deanna, Daniel Francisco, Ricardo Antonio, Marcelino Nicholas, Angela Inez, and Luis Roberto; 24 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and with two more on the way. Friends may call 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Monday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home (formerly known as Forest Lawn Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Home) 1977 South State Road 135 in Greenwood with a prayer service at 8:30 p.m. A Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church 317 N.
