John Sichert Obituary

John E. Sichert

92, of Franklin, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, March 26th at home after a brief period of hospice care. He was born on October 3, 1922 in Washington, DC. He served briefly in the U.S. Navy in 1942, stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. He was employed 20 years at National Electric Machine Shop in Maryland. He married Marjory Edney of Tryon, North Carolina on November 17, 1951; she was his true love, best friend and lifetime partner of more than 63 years. He founded his own mechanical engraving business in Burtonsville, Maryland in 1962.

John retired in 1979 and moved to Florida. For most of the next 23 years he and Marge lived in Vero Beach before moving to the Indianapolis area. He loved people and made many friends wherever he lived, sharing his life stories along the way with anyone who would listen.

He was preceded in death by his father John William Sichert; mother Catherine Karle Sichert; sister Catherine Marie Smith; and brother Elmer A. Sichert.

Survivors include his wife Marjory Sichert; son John William Sichert of Fairfield, Pennsylvania; daughter Nancy Lynn Sichert of Indianapolis; a cousin, great cousin; two nieces; two nephews; and several great nieces and great nephews.

Calling will be from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 4 at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel at 481 W. Main Street in Greenwood, Indiana. Funeral services will be held immediately after visitation with burial at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
