Dear Family of my friend, Joe Quill
I am a lawyer colleague / friend of Joe. My father, Raymond Grahn, was a long-time personal and professional friend of Joe. My dad's friendship with Joe began at Butler (around 1939?), where they both worked on the "campus crew", earning a few extra bucks for their tuition. Then WWII intervened. But after... their friendship continued as Indy attorneys from the 1940s until the "new millennium". Joe was the best, a true friend, a fine, honorable lawyer. I know, too, how he loved his family. I am thankful to have known him and will miss him very much. My sympathy and good wishes to all Joe's dearest loved ones.

Joe was a sweet person., until he put on his attorney face and went to wok helping the needy. He loved ND, Cathedral, God, and his country.
He always had a twinkle in his eyes.
May God welcome you home, Joe.
You ran a great race.

To the family of Joe Quill,
My name is Joe Vollmer and I teach at Cathedral High School. I regret that I cannot be at there today or tomorrow. I met Mr. Quill a number of years ago at Indiana Lake Country Club. More recently, I had the pleasure of sharing breakfast with him and Ed Knych a couple of times. Mr. Quill knew my father (Joe Vollmer), as they both attended Cathedral and Notre Dame. Though I spent time with Joe on only a handful of occasions, he made a strong impression on me as a person of great character and integrity. He was simply a pleasure to be with and I shall miss him. I am so sorry for your family's loss.

Indianapolis has lost a fantastic lawyer and even a better citizen. Mr. Quill, it was a pleasure getting to know you these past months and I am only sorry I didn't meet you sooner. Your stories from years past, your love for Notre Dame, your daughters, friends, clients was amazing. You were a kind and gentle man, and I was honored to help you in anyway I could. May God Grant you Eternal Rest, and enjoy all of your friends and your lovely Wife in Heaven. Best Wishes. Bridget Wetterer
