Martin Barco Obituary

Dr. Martin Thomas Barco II, DDS 64, Martinsville, IN passed away November 21, 2006. He was born September 2, 1942 in Ft. Knox, KY to Martin T. and Helen (Clark) Barco, Sr., and spent his childhood growing up in Winamac, Indiana. Dr. Barco graduated from Indiana University and the Indiana University School of Dentistry. He was a distinguished professor of dentistry at IU and also had a private practice in Bloomington. Dr. Barco was a member of the American Dental Association, the Indiana Dental Association, the American College of Fixed Prosthodontics, the American College of Prosthodontists, the John F. Johnston Society, and was a diplomat of the Board of Prosthodontics. He was a retired Navy Captain and served as the commanding officer of dental clinics at Camp Pendleton, CA and Great Lakes, IL during his 25 year career in the military. Dr. Barco is survived by his wife, Karen Ann Mead Barco of Martinsville; son, Martin Thomas Barco III of North Carolina; daughter, Torri Malia Cordell of Arizona; grandson, Martin Thomas Barco IV; and his brother, Clark Tobias Barco of Martinsville. A memorial service with military honors will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at 5:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 219 E. 4th Street, Bloomington, IN, where Dr. Barco was a member. Immediately following the service, the Barco family will gather with friends and relatives in the Great Hall at the church to further celebrate Tom's life. Church & Community Funeral Services is handling arrangements.
