Patsy Black Obituary

Patsy Phyllis Black passed away Monday, June 13, 2011. Mrs. Patsy Black was born on June 13th, 1934 in Morehead, Kentucky to Lula and Van Hogge. She moved to Indianapolis in 1956 and worked at the Indianapolis Gas Company where she met and then married her husband Dr. Henry R. Black in 1958. He preceded her in death in 1991. She was a homemaker and enjoyed working at "The Nearly New Shop" for several years in downtown Indianapolis and also at Davidson's at the Galleria Mall for several years. She enjoyed collecting antiques, gardening and fashion. She later opened an antique store, The Menagerie, in Broad Ripple. She is survived by four children, Jennifer Black of Charleston, IL, Jonathan Black (Diane Black) of Indianapolis, Jeffery Black (Sidney Salvadori) of Chicago, and Joanne Hirsch (Joseph Hirsch) of Indianapolis; twelve grandchildren, Ryan Bardwell (Shelly Bardwell) of Orland Park, IL, Malka, Jacob, Nathan, Sarah, Marcus, Ben and Noah Hirsch of Indianapolis, Isaac and Carla Salvadori-Black of Chicago, Madison and Griffin Black of Indianapolis; one great grandchild Aubrey Bardwell of Orland Park, IL; one brother Cleff Hogge of North Carolina and one sister Faye and Earl Alexander of Morehead, Kentucky. Five sisters Wilma, Lyda, Lillian, Mattie, Betty Jo, and four brothers Jack, Arthur, Judge and Bob preceded her in death. She cherished her children, grandchildren and her beloved dogs Kissie and Jade. Service will be Thursday, June 16, 2011 2:00 p.m. at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center-Broad Ripple, 1305 E. Broad Ripple, Indianapolis, IN 46220, followed by a funeral procession to Crown Hill Cemetery. Guests will be welcomed at The Hirsch Residence from 6 to 9 p.m.
