Roger Dowd Obituary
Rev. Roger Dale Dowd
63, of Brownsburg, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2014. He was born on April 17, 1951 in Berkeley, CA to James R. and Betty Berniece (Todd) Dowd. Roger grew up in Ottumwa, Iowa and attended Southern Bible College in Houston, TX. He worked as a Systems Analyst for 30 years, most recently for the State of Indiana at the BMV. Roger was currently employed at Catheter Research, Inc. as an Extrusion Supervisor. He pastored Bethel Family Worship Center in Indianapolis from 1991-1994, and was currently serving as the Associate Pastor for Zion Chapel in Lafayette, IN. He is survived by his wife of nearly 42 years, Carolyn Rose (Fields) Dowd; children, Brian (Jackie) Dowd, Jennifer (David) Hendrix, Tim Dowd; and 6 very special grandchildren. Roger is also survived by his mother, Betty Butts; siblings, Jim Dowd, Arlene Dowd and William Dowd. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Flanner and Buchanan - Speedway . Funeral services will take place on Thursday morning at 10 a.m. in Bethel Family Worship Center, Indianapolis. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. that afternoon in West Ridge Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Zion Chapel: 3908 Pasadena Dr. Lafayette, IN 47905. Friends are invited to leave online condolences for the family at: http://www.flannerbuchanan.com

To Carolyn, Brian, Jennifer & Tim, and the rest of the family and friends of Roger Dowd, we love the Dowd family! You will always have a special place in our hearts. You are dear friends and we love you to the moon and back! Bro Roger was a one of a kind, Man of God! Now there is another to be homesick for heaven, to see him again! Love you guys and words can't really express what we feel in our hearts for your loss, but I am thankful that God is holding each of you in the palm of His hand! How can a man live besides being a loyal and dedicated husband and a loving father? He can have unwavering and uncompromising principles. This was Roger Dowd. If you wanted your T's crossed, your I's dotted, and an honest man as well... then Roger was your guy. Because of you and Carolyn, God's Word is in my mind and heart and will never leave me. No one asked you or paid you to coach our Bible quiz teams, lead youth service, transport us to youth rallies, or all the other selfless acts you as a couple took upon yourselves for the young people of Bethel Faith Temple. I thank you and Carolyn with all of my being for always leading, loving , and guiding me in my formative years. Words cannot express the gratitude I feel for your family. May the Lord comfort your family through this time of sadness.
