Arthur Plautz Obituary

Arthur Henry Plautz 87, of Austin, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 22, 2009. He was born on September 5, 1921 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Arthur proudly served his country in the United States Army in World War II. Upon returning home he attended the University of Wisconsin where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. After graduating he moved to Indianapolis, Indiana and married the love of his live Martha Jane Hinds. Arthur began his Civil Engineering career in Indianapolis with HNTB. While in Indianapolis, Arthur was a member of North United Methodist Church and St. Luke's United Methodist Church. He was president of the American Water Works Association and also received the Fuller Award. Arthur retired in Orlando, FL from HNTB after more than 30 years of dedicated service. In 1999, Arthur moved to Austin where he was a member of Oak Hill United Methodist Church. Arthur will be remembered as a loving and committed family man who was able to make certain his children received every opportunity to further their education and choose their path to personal success. Arthur is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Jane Plautz; children, Judy Eckart, R.N. and husband John, Greg Plautz, M.D. and wife Liz, Bill Plautz, M.D. and wife Kathleen Welsh, M.D. and Joanna Suskic and husband Sead of Austin and eleven grandchildren. To honor the life of Arthur a private service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Cook-Walden Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 6300 W. William Cannon Dr., Austin, TX 78749, (512) 892-1172
