Vance Blackwell Obituary

Little Rock, AR - 76, Vance T Blackwell of Little Rock was born in Indianapolis, IN to Forrest and Dora Mae (nee Rees) Blackwell on February 1, 1949. Vance was the youngest of four siblings, Charles Bruce (Carol) Blackwell, Joyce (Charles) Berry, and Forrest (Rees) Blackwell, who is predeceased. The family resided on South Whitcomb Street at West Rockville Road when Rockville Road was only two lanes. Vance attended Wayne Twp schools until the third grade when the family moved to St. Clair Shores, MI. After more family moves, Vance graduated from Blytheville High School (Arkansas) in 1967 and went on to graduate from Hendrix College, Conway, AR, with a degree in mathematics in 1971. Vance was active in scouting, becoming an Eagle Scout, Order of the Arrow and other awards into scouting as an adult. Vance worked 35 years for Entergy/AP&L. By far Vance's favorite pastime was playing golf. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Deitra "Dee Dee" (nee Crane) Blackwell, whom he met and married in 1976. Also by daughter Amy (Trevor) Bennett, one nine-year-old granddaughter Lottie Bennett, all of Wellsville, NY, and by son Andrew (Meagan) Blackwell of Fayetteville, AR. A celebration of Vance's life will be held June 20 at 1 PM at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, Little Rock, AR 72223. Indianapolis area condolences may be sent by email to b_blackwell.msn.com
