Ameline Pappas

Pappas Ameline (nee Morin) March 15, 1945 - August 5, 2025 Age 80 years, passed away in the comfort of her home on Tuesday evening, August 5, 2025. She had been a resident of Philadelphia for fifteen years. The widow of Peter C. Pappas, Ameline and Peter were married for 38 years, from 1971 to the time of his death in 2010. Mrs. Pappas was born in Vineland on March 15, 1945, the daughter of the late Edward and Dolores Arnade Morin. After marriage to Peter, they moved to Mauricetown, NJ and started a family, their son Clement arriving in 1974. In 1978, the family moved to Vineland, NJ where they grew the family, adding Edward in 1979 and Zachary in 1984. In 1990, Ameline moved with her family to Woodstown, NJ where Ameline kept a beautiful and lively home for her family for two decades. After Peter's death, Ameline moved to Philadelphia to be closer to her sons. Ameline graduated Sacred Heart High School in Vineland in 1963 and received her Batchelor's Degree in Classics in 1967 from Chestnut Hill College. She taught Latin at Vineland High School until 1971. Ameline volunteered extensively in charitable work. She chaired the board at the Ellison School in Vineland and led successful capital campaign, resulting in the construction of new school facilities. Ameline also served on the board at the Mullica Hill Friends School and deeply involved herself in their fundraising efforts, and later with fundraising at Orchard Friends School in Riverton. She was a dedicated volunteer and board member of Wheaton Arts in Millville. Ameline also supported the family food processing business, Clement Pappas & Company, Inc, including writing and editing the company's quarterly newsletter, The Cedarbrooker. Mrs. Pappas adored classical music and playing the piano, collected Asian and glass art, kept extensive gardens in her Woodstown home, and was an accomplished cook in love with South Jersey's fresh produce. She enjoyed hosting family and friends alike, as her home was a warm and welcoming place to all who visited. Ameline also loved her dogs and enjoyed many summers in Sea Isle and Stone Harbor. She is survived by her three sons, Clement, his wife Lauren and their sons, Paul and Joseph; Edward and his wife Alexis and their son and daughter, Charlie and Amelia; and son, Zachary. Additional survivors include her brother, Larry Morin and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, David and Michael Morin. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Funeral Services at the FREITAG FUNERAL HOME, 137 W. Commerce St., Bridgeton on Friday morning August 15th at 11 o'clock A.M. The interment will follow in the family cemetery lot at Overlook Cemetery in Bridgeton. A luncheon will follow at Wheaton Arts. Friends will be received at the Funeral Home on Friday morning from 10 A.M. until 11 A.M.
