ARTHUR SANDS Obituary
ARTHUR JAMES, 85, of Malvern, died peacefully in Malvern on Tuesday, June 11, 2013. He was the husband of Therese Marie Sands (Kelley), with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage in April. Born on Dec. 10, 1927, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Joseph and Bertha Sands.
Arthur was a 1945 graduate of Northeast Catholic High School in Philadelphia. Following graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army and served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne.
He attended Drexel University and spent his career at the Burroughs/Unisys Corporation until his retirement in 1991. During his retirement, he served as a courier for Malvern Federal Savings and Loan.
Arthur was an active member of St. Patrick Parish in Malvern since 1958, where he served as an usher and a Eucharistic Minister.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children: Marylou Sands of Phoenixville, Barbara Rosato (Andrew) of Spring City, David Sands (Nanci) of Malvern, Susan Darlington (Kevin) of Royers-ford, and Eileen Menkes (Mark) of Phoenixville, nine grand-children, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Regina Market.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Patrick Church in Malvern. Friends may call at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. Inter-ment will be at the Philadelphia Memorial Park in Frazer. Arrangements are being made by MAUGER GIVNISH FUNERAL HOME in Malvern

I served with Art in the 456th parachute field artillery battalion, 82nd airborne division. Art slept right next to my bunk in the barracks, and he was my best friend. I will always be grateful for all the kindness that Art showed me while I was in the army with him.
