I got to know Barry back in 1987 from his working relationship with agents in my office, yet we only spoke on the phone for many years and never really met face to face until six years later when I moved into the neighborhood and he came over to introduce himself. Weren't we surprised when we realized we had actually known each other by phone for such a long time. He was my big brother and years later absolutely approved of my soon to be hubby. Barry was an amazing person...funny, generous, always looking out for everyone else, there are just not enough words to say how wonderful he was and how much he will be missed by both of us.

You served your Country well in the US Air Force and in the US Marshals Service, where we became acquainted and a friend to my father, Thomas P. Carey and husband, Joseph Bennett working together for many years as part of the Camden office. You kept life and work interesting! Rest In Peace Barry.

As a brother federal agent, I had the opportunity to work with Barry on numerous occasions since 1990. Barry was old school law enforcement who always had your back and always made you feel at home at the U.S. Marshal’s Office in Camden. Barry always welcomed you with a warm smile and handshake, and then he would start with his storytelling. In retirement, were also lodge brothers at the South Jersey FOP Lodge 56 where he served as the Sgt. at Arms. Barry always worked the room during lodge meetings and made the meetings much more enjoyable. Again, Barry never wasted an opportunity to tell a few of his stories. Barry was a true gentleman who honorably served his country as a Viet Nam veteran and Deputy U.S. Marshal. I will miss Barry, but I will carry his memories forever.

I am so sorry to hear of Barry’s passing. I have fond memories of him from when I worked at the Drug Enforcement Administration in Camden & Atlantic City, in the 80’s & 90’s. He was a great guy and a friend to all in the law enforcement community. Fun & never a cross word. My condolences to his loved ones.

I remember when Barry came to our building to conduct sales, and other things related to law enforcement. We became friends. I knew that if I needed any thing, Barry would come through. Our first metal, large, came from their office, with the help of Barry. I remember the "good old" times. We had a lot of fun together. I do not have the person, at least I have good memories. May he rest awhile !!
