Im very sad to read of Bernard´s death - and (a little) surprised that his time working as the Director of the Southern Arts Association in Winchester, UK in the 70s, is not mentioned in his obituary. I worked for him and the Film Officer then. It was a wonderful time - Bernard´s hand on the tiller was light but sure. Our tiny office bubbled with ideas and opinions, which were aired regularly, often passionately, but above all always respected. He ran a very happy, effective ship and our working days were full of interest, enjoyment and humour. Bernard was my much respected boss in the office and my dear friend out of it. He was gentle, funny, knowledgeable and very often wise - and I think he may have been the most socially at ease person I´ve ever met! We lost contact when he left the UK but reconnected over a few emails just a few years ago ... and then slipped apart again. Distance is a killer. I am so happy to have known him.

Bernard Jacobson was an intelligent, nice man with a good sense of humor. He gave a lecture once at SJU while I was an undergraduate student. Through our meeting, I was given an introduction and worked as an intern in the archives at the Academy of Music. This work brought me great joy; I loved hearing our great Philadelphia Orchestra rehearse under Maestro Muti. Thank you Mr. Jacobson!
