I lost touch with Carl after I moved from Philadelphia to Boston in 2001. I thought of him every time I saw a historic carousel, and again today while reading about carousels in Preservation Magazine. I'm sorry he's gone and I will always remember him fondly.

Mr. Dahlgren's artwork held a special place in my heart, but nothing like his beautiful carousel ponies. His insights and narratives of the history of the Hunting Park community helped me with my coursework, but best of all, entertained me immensely. A wonderful man, a legacy of a life; he will be missed.

I am sorry to read of the passing of Carl Dahlgren. I moved to Philadelphia in 1972 to attend Temple University. When I graduated and began my career as a social worker in Philadelphia, from time to time I would be asked if I was related to Carl. I am from upstate Pennsylvania; my father's name was Charles Dahlgren, and his father's name was Henning. Henning had a brother who moved to Philadelphia and so I've often wondered if Carl and my father could have been cousins. My father was born in 1924. If you have information that may connect us please feel free to contact me. Again, I am very sorry for your loss. Bonney Dahlgren DosSantos.
