CATHERINE L. "KITTY", a former long-time resident of Barrington, NJ died suddenly on July 3, 2007 in Voorhees, NJ. She was the third of four children, and the only daughter of Leo J. and Catherine (nee Gallagher) Lawless of Philadelphia. Kitty graduated from Hallahan Girls High School and was employed by the Budd Company during World War II. Later, she was employed by the Internal Revenue Service prior to her marriage in 1946 to John A. Nolan, Jr. in Philadelphia. By 1953, the couple had relocated to Barrington where she ultimately raised a family of seven children. As her children grew older, Kitty embarked first upon a real estate career and later, was employed for many years as an office manager with the NJ Department of Health's Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center in Camden. She was first known within her family as "The Cookie Grandmom" for her never ending supply of freshly-baked cookies. Later, during the Gulf War, she was known much more widely under that same name for starting what became a regional program where people around South Jersey baked and sent cookies to American military personnel serving in that conflict. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Leo J. Lawless, Jr. of Whitman, MA and Edward N. Lawless of Philadelphia, and a daughter, Sharon Nolan Inman. Kitty is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Charles A. and Loretta F. Lawless of North Fort Meyers, FL; five sons and daughters-in-law, John A. and Helen Conway Nolan, III of Huntsville, AL; Robert L. and Patricia Romer Nolan of Marietta, GA; Michael T. and Cassandra Murillo Nolan of San Juan Capistrano, CA; Marc E. and MariCriz Warriner Nolan of Kennesaw, GA, and David A. and Patricia Collins Nolan of Medford Lakes, NJ; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Anne Nolan and Robert Coyle of Laurel Springs, NJ; and son-in-law John S. Inman of Phoenix, AZ. Her 20 grandchildren include Alexis (Ryan) Lindow of Huntsville, John A. (Karen Heslin) Nolan IV, of Pompton Lakes, NJ Margaret C. Nolan of Alexandria, VA; Ashley Inman of Newport Beach, CA, Colleen (Barret) Germundson of Scottsdale, AZ; Robert C. Nolan of Marietta, GA and D. Scott (Rose) Miranda Nolan of Seattle, WA; Zoe, Zachary, Ana and Aiden Nolan of San Juan Capistrano, CA; Gregory (Dorothy Jankiewicz) Voit of Cherry Hill, NJ and Jennifer Voit (Rob) Dawalt of West Collingswood; Meaghan and Mark Nolan of Kennesaw, GA; and Caitlin, Adam and Emma Nolan of Medford Lakes. She also had 11 great-grandchildren, Michaila, Cassidy, Jackson, Tess and Gabriel Lindow of Huntsville; KayLeigh and Sean Voit of Cherry Hill, NJ; and Robert, Allison, Thomas and Lillian Dawalt of West Collingswood; and Luca Germundson of Scottsdale, AZ' and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to a viewing at MATHIS FUNERAL HOME, 58 N. Main St., Medford, NJ, 609-654-2439, from 6-8 PM, Friday, July 6, and again on Saturday, July 7 from 9-10 AM at the Church of the Holy Eucharist, 520 Medford Lakes Rd., Tabernacle, NJ. A Funeral Mass will follow at the church at 10 AM. Interment will be in St. Denis Cemetery, Havertown, PA.
