Charles Miller Biddle III

CHARLES MILLER BIDDLE 3rd, 95, died on Friday, July 7, 2006 at Foulkeways, Gwynedd, PA. He was born and raised in Riverton, NJ in 1911, the son of Charles Miller Biddle, Jr. and Anna Haines Lippincott Biddle. He was the great grandson of Robert Biddle who was one of 9 Philadelphia Quaker merchant founders of Riverton, NJ in 1851. He attended Westfield Friends School in Cinnaminson, NJ, William Penn Charter School in Philadelphia, Moses Brown in Providence, RI and Guilford College in Greensboro, NC. Mr. Biddle was a life-long member of Westfield Friends Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends and a former member of Riverton Country Club in Riverton, NJ and Buck Hill Falls Golf Club in Buck Hill Falls, PA. He was an avid hunter, golfer and fly fisherman. He worked for Supplee Biddle Hardware Company in Philadelphia and served on its board until its sale in 1964, was a co-owner of the Moorestown Chrysler-Plymouth Dealership and was later an agricultural chemicals representative for the I.P. Thomas Company. He was married to Priscilla White Biddle of Greensboro and Guilford College, NC, for 35 years until her death in 1971. Their 4 children survive him: Ann Biddle Moran Hepburn of Wyndmoor, PA, Charles Miller Biddle 4th, MD, of Moorestown, NJ, David White Biddle of Hatfield, MA and Richard Lippincott Biddle of Chestnut Hill, PA. He is survived by a sister, Nancy Biddle Russell of Newtown, PA, 5 grandchildren, Douglas Moran, James Moran, Amy Biddle, Owen Biddle, and Christopher Biddle and one great grandchild, Connor Healy. He married Marjorie T. Corson of Plymouth Meeting, PA in 1972. She died in 1975. He is also survived by his wife of 20 years, Phyllis Jenkins Morrison Biddle and her children John Davis Morrison of Elwyn, PA, David Jenkins Morrison of Harrisburg, PA and Joan Van Dusen Morrison of East Kingston, NH. A Memorial Service was held in the Jenkins Parlor at Foulkeways in Gwynedd, PA on Sunday, July 9, 2006 at 3 P.M. Burial at the Westfield Friends Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Westfield Friends School, 2201 Riverton Rd., Cinnaminson, NJ 08077 or a charity of the donor's choice.
