I was good friends with Jo and Beth through elementary and Jr high school. We also went to Hebrew school together. For some reason I was thinking about the whole family today. Ran across this article and I´m sending my sympathies even though it is very belated. Remembering the family.

I was deeply saddened to belatedly hear of Dr. Schlossberg's passing last year. He was the director of my internal residency program at Polyclinic Medical Center in Harrisburg, PA in the late 70's. He was an excellent teacher and mentor as well as a valuable source of information in the areas of infectious disease and general internal medicine. He was a role model for me when I decided to pursue a career in academic medicine and become an internal med. residency program director myself after I finished my training. I wish to express my sincere sympathies to David's family, friends and colleagues. I know he had a tremendous impact in the lives of many patients, professional colleagues and young doctors in training and he will be sorely missed.

I was terribly shocked and saddened to learn about Dr. Schlossberg's passing. He was my attending physician during my internship at Episcopal Hospital in 1995-1996. I can't begin to tell how much I learned from him. He was an amazing teacher and mentor and I will be in debt to him for the rest of my career. My condolences to his family and especially to Yuan who was doing an internship when I did. May his soul rest in peace.

Belated condolences on David's passing - I just heard, today. I knew David and his siblings (and parents) in our respective youths. He was a role model - a wonderful son, older brother, mensch, etc. He was a gifted person but most importantly a wonderful human being. I thought about him, over the many years since I last saw and spoke to him, fairly often. He was, in some way, a significant personage in my early life. Love to his family. Chaim Forer

Like many, I was shocked and dismayed to hear of David Schlossberg's death and extend my heartfelt condolences and sympathy to his biological and academic families.
David and I grew up together in a tightly knit Jewish community in Trenton, NJ. We went to rival NJ prep schools (David to Lawrenceville/Arthur to Peddie). After that, we lost track of each other until we were both at a Mandell, Douglass, and Bennett Principals and Practice of Infectious Disease book party reception at the meeting of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) and were re-introduced to each other by another book contributor.
Needless to say, we "schmoozed" about growing up in Trenton and discovered we had even more in common.
From then on, David and I (and Yuan) would routinely have a meal together at every subsequent IDSA Meeting that we both attended. These meals were grand events as David, Yuan, and I all had adventurous tastes and no compunction about exploring gastronomic opportunities.
I brought David to NYC to MSKCC as a visiting lecturer and he invited me to write book chapters for him.
As many of you have already expressed, it was a very collaborative and rewarding relationship.
I loved our relationship: it was easy, smart, clever, warm, and always full of laughs. He loved Yuan and his children. He was a proud man who carried his given name, David, as if it were the actual biblical shield of David, as a sign of his love for Israel and his pride as a Jewish man.
He was a dear friend, and a gifted and exceptional physician. I will miss him.

I was shocked, saddened, and heartbroken to learn of David's sudden passing. I extend my deepest sympathies to his precious family.
in addition to being an astute clinician, TB expert, and a Philadelphia 76ers fan, David was always a true gentleman and scholar; most importantly, he was the quintessential role model for all of us lucky enough to know him. He was always willing to listen as well as teach. He was inherently kind, gentle, and compassionate. David was (and always will be) a hero to me, representing the kind of doctor (and person) I strive to emulate.
An unfathomable void has been left in our hearts. We will all sorely miss you, David; I already do...

A bright star has been extinguished. I first knew him as a colleague but he became a cherished friend. He was wise, kind, compassionate and fun. I will miss him. I was just thinking of and looking forward to dinner with Yuan and David at the National TB Clinician's Meeting next month. I am blessed to have known him, it so hurts to hear of his passing. I will be thinking of and praying for his entire family. He always spoke to me of all of you with so much love.

I am so sorry to learn of David's passing. I rounded with him when he would join us on Mondays at Temple and we would have the most wonderful academic conversations while walking between seeing patients, the kind that most people would run away from
but we both enjoyed. He encouraged my success as an academic author and gave me useful career advice. I will miss him.
