Dave was a Great Man & Mentor. He treated me as he would anyone he knew... with the utmost respect. I loved the time we spent, and the amazing conversations we shared.

I am a former Strawbrdige and Clothier employee April 66 until the closing of 8th and streets as Strawbrdige and Clothier I was just eighteen when started, It was a wonderful place to work, we were a family, everyday it was pleasure coming to work , it was wonderful working with David and family. They left their mark on Retail and set the standards of quality and customer service and employee relationships, as it used be, no other Department Store could or can compare. Employees longevity was amazing, no one wanted to leave S&C. David was a class act, friendly and caring, I am saddened to learn of his transition, Peace and BLESSINGS to all the families and friends, and former co-workers he will be remembered. Lynda Skinner

I am forever grateful for David and his years of volunteer leadership and mentor ship he gave to so many. I remember many a Red Cross board meeting hosted by David at Strawbridge´s. I always appreciated how much David supported our Red Cross events, especially our youth camp and our first aid competitions. You are in my prayers and I´m grateful for all the memories. I had the honor to serve under David's leadership when he served as chair of the American Red Cross, SEPA Chapter. It was a powerhouse board of CEOs, politicians, and partners from all the esteemed law and accounting firms, marketing agencies, as well as leaders from acedemia and media. David's dignified countenance was the perfect complement to the organization's high energy CEO at the time. David was steady and measured, and when he spoke, you listened because he wasn't one to waste words.

None of this is what I most remember about David, however. I remember a man who took a genuine interest in people--from the staff and volunteers at the Red Cross to the servers in the (6th floor?) dining room at the 8th and Market location where David would host Red Cross' quarterly board luncheons. He cared and we knew it.

I was probably too young and inexperienced to fully appreciate David Strawbridge, but time has given me context, perspective, and people to compare. It has been close to 25 years since I last saw the man and he still holds up as someone I admire.

I was fortunate to get to know and learn from David Strawbridge and I imagine I am not alone in that regard.

My prayers to the Strawbridge family. May you find comfort in the memories you shared and created.

v/r,
Rob Lewandowski

I remember David well from Church of the Redeemer and my many years there in the choir about which he was always very complimentary. And I remember seeing him on the grass playing tennis at Merion regularly. I´m sure he will be missed by many. RIP good and faithful servant as Rev. Timothy Pickering used to say.

My sympathy to the entire Strawbridge family. David had a wonderful life, fulfilling career, hobbies and still was active in charity work. May he Rest In Peace and memories of him console his loved ones.
